UGANDA: Church Unveils Official Logo for Papal Visit

KAMPALA NOVEMBER 17, 2015(CISA) – The Uganda Episcopal Conference has unveiled the official logo that will be used when Pope Francis visits on November 26 – 27.

The logo is an emblazonment of the 22 Catholic Uganda martyrs in a circular formation on the Ugandan map with Pope Francis in centre foreground, with the Mini Basilica at the Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo in the background.

The chairperson of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Archbishop John Baptist Odama unveiled the logo at a press briefing on the progress of preparations of the Holy Father November 11. “Remember, the Pope will be celebrating with us the canonization of the martyrs.

The other two martyrs who were the youngest, Daudi Okello and Jildo Irwa, who are known as the martyrs of Paimol in Kitgum District, are also included on the sides,” Uganda’s Daily Monitor quoted Archbishop Odama as saying.

Archbishop Odama revealed that all preparations for the Pope’s visit between November 27- 29 are almost complete.

“The remaining final touches will also be completed within time,” he said. He said that everyone was invited to attend the events at the venues.

“We also encourage all people of goodwill to line up the various routes that the Pope’s motorcade will pass, to give him a warm welcome as a gesture of our hospitality and love,” Archbishop Odama said.
